I’ve become a raving fan of wall mounted shelves.

They are one of my favorite solutions for both bare walls and lack of storage space. Now that we’ve gone through downsizing, hanging wall shelves are something we’ve incorporated into nearly every room of our small townhouse.

Here are 8 different wall display shelves with totally different looks that you can make yourself in a short amount of time!

These Joanna Gaines inspired diy farmhouse shelves are easy to install. The black brackets give them a great modern farmhouse style look.

Making floating shelves was just the answer we needed for book storage in my husband’s office. There are different methods for making floating shelves, but we loved this one using long boards with dowels.

These floating beside tables only took my husband a few hours to make, and 2 of them cost only $10! They are handy wall mounted bedside tables and make our small room feel more spacious. The shelf on the top is perfect for holding our books, cups of coffee, and all that other miscellaneous stuff.

7. Basic wall shelf with basic brackets

The wall shelf in our laundry room is as basic as it gets. It’s just a board with 2 inexpensive plastic brackets! It is handy for holding our laundry supplies, and also offers a spot for me to hang a short little curtain. It’s hiding the ugly plumbing situation!

These are Ikea Wall Shelves (I couldn’t find our exact color on the site today) and were modified (cut to fit) into our small townhouse kitchen. They make a great kitchen wall shelves- perfect for a coffee station.
