I don’t know about you, but I find the hardest part of preparing for a Summer picnic, potluck, or party is figuring out what to take!

4 Delicious Desserts Perfect for Summer Picnics

Strawberry Pie

Strawberry sauce being poured over a pie of strawberries with a crust. Strawberry pie makes a great summer dessert for a party!

What says Summer more than strawberry pie? This recipe can be made in a traditional pie pan, or multiplied and put into a 9 x 13 rectangle pan. The crust is super simple to put together. A simple sauce using strawberry jello is poured over fresh strawberries. Once chilled and set, it’s all ready to go.

My Grandma Bernice used to make this old-fashioned recipe, and we always ran to her house to taste test it!

To make this for a very large crowd, substitute the crust for store bought tart shells. Bake off as many as you need, and fill with fresh strawberries and the sauce. The crowd will be wild for them!

Texas Brownies

Multi-colored sprinkles being sprinkled on a pan of chocolate brownies with icing. Texas brownies makes a great Summer dessert for a party!

Filled with ooey gooey chocolatey flavour, these brownies are my absolute favourite! They absolutely melt in your mouth…

This recipe is made in a large sized jelly roll pan. The beauty and simplicity of this recipe is that the icing is poured over the hot brownies as soon as they come out of the oven!

Grasshopper Pie

A pan of grasshopper pie dessert sitting being a pile of marshmallows and peppermint flavouring bottle. It makes a great Summer dessert recipe!

I still remember sitting in my sister-in-law’s house trying this pie out for the first time. The name threw me off at first (What??)…but as soon as I took the first bite, I was hooked!

I used to call this Chocolate Mint Dessert and I multiplied it by many and made it for large groups at the camp I worked at for a time. It was always a hit. It, too, can be made in a traditional pie pan, or multiplied and layered in 9 x 13 (or larger) pans for larger numbers of people.

Also a chilled dessert, it’s perfect for a hot Summer day – and bonus! – it can be made ahead of time.

Delicious Dessert

A pan of delicious dessert sitting on a counter. This layered dessert ending with chocolate pudding makes a perfect Summer dessert for a party!

This dessert has other clever names, but the one in my mom’s recipe file says “Delicious Dessert” – and it lives up to its name!

A 3 layered dessert with a baked crust, cream cheese filling, and pudding top is a cool, refreshing treat to end a meal.

My favorite pudding flavor to use is chocolate, but you can substitute it for whatever flavor sounds good to you!
