Easy Chocolate Brownies Recipe (Quick, Fudgy & Made From Scratch)
This quick and easy chocolate brownie recipe comes together in one bowl in minutes. Soft, fudgy brownies made with simple pantry ingredients.

This easy chocolate brownies recipe deserves a spot in every homemaker’s collection.
You can mix these brownies and have them baking in the oven in about five minutes, which makes them my go-to recipe when unexpected company calls and says they’ll be there soon. Before the doorbell rings, the house smells like rich chocolate and the coffee is already perking — ask me how I know.
This well-loved family recipe came from my sister-in-law and was the very first brownie recipe I ever made. Her handwritten recipe card is titled 4-H Chocolate Brownies, which makes me smile every time I pull it out.
Made in just one bowl with simple ingredients you likely already have on hand, these brownies bake up soft, chewy, and wonderfully fudgy — just the way we like them.

Fudgy 4-H Chocolate Brownies
This quick and easy chocolate brownie recipe comes together in one bowl in minutes. Soft, fudgy brownies made with simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup white all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
Instructions
Step 1: Mix melted butter and cocoa together in the bowl of an electric mixer.
Step 2: Add in the rest of the ingredients.
I like to cream the butter in with the butter cocoa mixture well, then the eggs. Once those are mixed together well, I add in all the dry ingredients and mix until they are all incorporated well.
Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl a few times during the process.
Step 3: Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
Step 4: Sprinkle immediately with nuts for and instant topping if you prefer.
