Spice up your Living Room Decor with these Simple Ideas for Fall
Cozy up your living room decor with these quick and easy room decor ideas for Fall.
I’ll admit it, I’m not quite ready for Fall this year.
Our Summer seemed to come later than usual, so I’m soaking up all the blue sky and sunshine as long as I can. We’re enjoying some lovely September sunshine these days, but the turning leaves on the trees and chilly evenings tell me Fall is a’comin’!
Before we know it, the weather will change and days will get shorter. So, I always like to get my house all cozied up for the new season.
Here are some quick and easy room decor ideas for Fall to style your living room.

Bring Fall’s beautiful colors to room decor with natural elements
The other night, I picked the last of my hydrangeas from my patio planters. Most of them are blue, but a few are a beautiful, vibrant pinky/purple. They are perfect for Fall!
If you don’t have flowers outside your door, another nice thing for Fall is a vase full of branches.
Change out the decorative pillows on the couch
I’ve recently discovered the joy of making decorative pillow covers! In fact, I just learned how to sew pillows with zipper closures, and now there’s no stopping me. (Ha!) I traded out my sunshine yellow painted striped pillows for these patterned ones with boho style. I love how they give a pop of color – which will be perfect when the sky turns dark and gray.
If you would like to make your own diy decorative pillows, here are some pillow tutorials that don’t require any zippers.
And if you’d rather buy pillow covers instead of sewing them, I love this set of 4 modern boho pillow covers.
Restyle the living room bookshelves
When the seasons change, I often have an urge to do some deep cleaning. (It’s a miracle, I know!) As long as I’m dusting the shelves, I use it as an opportunity to change up the decor.
Stacks of old books, spicy candles, leather and black accessories, and greenery are always great go-tos for bookshelf styling for Fall.
And if you like Joanna Gaines and the farmhouse style, you can use her 3 simple tricks to style your farmhouse bookcase.
Bring out the candles
Fall is the perfect time to bring out the candles with scents that are spicy and warm. Vanilla and cinnamon are 2 of my favorites.
Dress up your coffee table with simple coffee table decor ideas
I always like to start my coffee table decor with some sort of a flat basket. It’s a great way to coral some things and keep the overall look orderly.
A simple vase of hydrangeas, a pottery pitcher, and a small vintage looking clock add interest to this space.
You could also use a pile of magazines as a place to perch a vase of flowers or branches, too.
Bring out the blankets
Nothing is more cozy than a nice blanket to wrap up in when the evenings get chilly. Lay them over the couch, fold them and put them on the coffee table shelf, or even pile them on the bookshelves.
Add in some pumpkin decor
There’s no time like Fall to use those pumpkin decor ideas! You can certainly find lots of pumpkin themed decor when it’s the season, but I prefer to use real pumpkins.
It’s a little early to find them in my neck of the woods, but when the time is right, I like to buy a few cute little decorative pumpkins. Then, when pumpkin season is over, I just dispose of them. No storage space necessary!

I was literally just thinking about how I need to sew some new pillow covers. Thanks for linking to the tutorial! Now I have no reason to procrastinate anymore. 😅
Gonna have to agree with you on that one! And, Rita, I really liked the grommet curtain turned pillow – very creative.
