I’m not much for tying myself down to decor styles, but I did check out the boho decor definition. Summed up in my own words, it’s a style filled with life and culture – with an eclectic mix of textures and patterns.
Regardless of the details, I’ve found myself enjoying inspiration pictures described as “boho”.
In fact, we recently did a boho decor bedroom – and we love it!
I decided to challenge myself to pull some of that wild & free style into other areas of our home, too.
Today, we’re bringing some boho home decor to the dining room.
Here was our Spring Dining Room:
It was all decked out for Spring and Summer with cheery yellow and green. (You can see the Spring tablescape here.)
And here is the new boho chic farmhouse dining room:

I’ve always loved the farmhouse look, so much of the decor I have on hand is more that style. However, I wanted to try to use what I already had to try to make it feel a little more boho modern decor with farmhouse on the side.;)
My dining room wall shelves are one of my favorite things to decorate, and I love to change them out for each season.
Here are some of the decor ideas I used in this space.
1.Hang woven trays, baskets, or wicker chargers to make an accent on the wall.
I’ve been admiring how others have used a “trail” of woven baskets or trays on a wall to give a space that well traveled feel. As I was pondering where I could purchase some, I remembered I already had wicker chargers in my cupboard!
Small nails tacked them easily onto the wall.
Shop woven chargers here. (I use mine all the time!)
2. Add in layers of greenery.
Boho home decor style often has an eclectic mix of greenery, so I added in my collection. I used a mix of both real and faux plants for this arrangement. Some of my plants are thriving a bit better than others, but I’m working on being a good plant mom.

3. Layer different textures on the shelf to add interest.
A pile of soft place-mats, pottery bowls, glassware, and wooden shelves all combine to give a warm feeling to the space. An old vintage canvas painting also adds interest to the wall space.
We made these super easy farmhouse style wall shelves – which are a great solution to an empty wall space. You can find all the details on how to make them by clicking here.
This area is still a work in progress as we transition from Summer to Fall in our townhouse.
