Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Get dinner on the table in under 30 minutes with this easy skillet homemade hamburger helper stroganaff recipe. Browned ground beef combined with noodles and a creamy sauce makes this a favorite meal even picky eaters will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced (optional)
  • 1 can whole kernal corn, drained
  • 2 cups dried pasta noodles (I used rotini this time, but even macaroni will do)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot 2/3 of the way full with hot water and salt it generously. If you like exact measurements, use 4 cups water with 1 tablespoon of salt sprinkled in. Put a lid on it, set the burner on high temperature and wait for it to boil.
  2. While the water is heating up to boil (to cook the pasta in), brown the hamburger and onion together in a large skillet. Salt and pepper to taste. Once the hamburger is totally brown and no pink is showing, and the onions are transluscent, remove from the burner and drain off any access grease.
  3. Meanwhile, once the water boils, pour in the dried pasta and cook according to the package directions for the amount of time for “al dente” pasta. Drain the cooked pasta using a strainer or colendar.
  4. Place back on the burner over medium heat, stirring constantly for a few minutes to heat everything up together and combine the flavors.
  5. Once the pasta is cooked, pour the pasta, cream of mushroom soup, and drained corn into the skillet with the browned ground beef mixture. Stir to combine and heat for a few more minutes until it's all heated through.
