Step by Step Instructions for Stroganaff Hamburger Casserole
- In a large skillet, brown the hamburger over medium high heat. Break apart the meat with a spatula and stir and toss it around as it cooks. Once it is browned and there is no pink on the meat, drain the grease from the pan.
- Stir the drained mushrooms and 1/2 cup french friend onions into the browned ground beef.
- Pour the ground beef mixture into the bottom of a casserole dish.
- In a small saucepan, heat up the cream of mushroom soup and stir in 1/2 cup of the sour cream.
- Pour the soup mixture over the top of the hamburger mixture in the casserole dish.
- Open the canned biscuits up and cut each one in half.
- Arrange the biscuits on the top of the casserole dish starting around the edges. (Note: Spread them out a bit more than I did in the picture so there are some in the middle as well. It will help them to bake more evenly.)
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup french fried onions on the top of the biscuits.
- Mix together a topping of 1/2 cup sour cream, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon salt and pour over the top of the biscuits and french fried onions.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and they are done in the center.
- Garnish with some more french fried onions if you’d like.
