It’s packed with a delightfully sweet and slightly spicy flavors, making it a perfect dinner idea for busy nights. Plus, it’s freezer-friendly, so you can prep it ahead and have it ready for a busy day in the future!

I’ve been spending some time testing out recipes that work well for freezer meals. One of the quickest and easiest freezer meal prep ideas are marinades for chicken – like this recipe.
I’ve been researching all kinds of chicken marinades and glazes and trying them out – even if they sound a bit strange. I thought this one would end up being super spicy – but it didn’t. Yes, it’s full of incredible, juicy flavor, but it isn’t overly spicy. The spicy brown mustard gives it great flavor, and paired with honey, it is a perfect balance of flavors. I encourage you to try it.
I baked it this time, but you can choose your favorite chicken cooking method – grilling, baking, frying, or even the air fryer. All would end up with really tasty chicken – ready to serve with your favorite side.

How to Portion, Cook, and Freeze This Recipe to Fit Your Lifestyle
The recipe listed below in the recipe card is for 4 chicken breasts – which would be perfect for 4 people (if you like to have 1 whole chicken breast each). However, here are some other options if you are cooking for 2 and wanting to freeze it ahead.
- For Two People: Use 2 chicken breasts instead of 4, or make 2 bags of 2 chicken breasts with this marinade recipe. I like to cut each breast in half horizontally to make thinner portions. Pour 1/3 cup of marinade per bag for perfect coverage.
- To Freeze Ahead: Place raw chicken breasts in a freezer-safe bag and pour the marinade over them.Remove excess air, seal, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before baking or grilling.
- To Bake After Freezing: Preheat oven to 375°F.Place thawed chicken in a baking dish and bake for 20-30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
