When I was working on our Master Bedroom makeover with boho decor style, there was a small detail that didn’t arrive in time for the big reveal.

But, it eventually came.

Just like jewelry is the finishing touch to an outfit, interior door knobs are the sparkly finishing touch to a room. 

If you’ve been around for a while, you may remember how interior door handles pulled together the inspiration for our farmhouse hallway makeover and helped transform our tiny laundry room  into a place I love.

Update White Interior Doors with Modern Door Knobs

Our 90s’ townhouse unit came tricked out with basic round, brass door handles. They work very well at helping give that “90s” vibe… but, that’s not really what we’re going for anymore.;)

As we sit against our newly upholstered headboard and savor our weekend coffee and breakfast in bed, this was the view that we used to stare at:

The real estate agent explained to us that this door allows our Master Bedroom to technically be classified with a “Cheater Suite”, since it leads to the bathroom. It’s an extra door access to the main bathroom and we absolutely love the convenience of it.

However, it didn’t look too fabulous…

My husband added some chunkier trim to it (to match this farmhouse style trim), and a quick door knob installation totally transformed the space!

Replace bedroom door knobs in the color and style that matches your home

This door handle is the Addison Collection Georgian Knob from Schlage in the Aged Bronze finish. Although there are many other finish options, this is the one that fits with our Modern Boho decor look we love. It pops especially nice against the Simply White doors. Their door knobs come with great instructions that will walk you through the steps of how to replace door knobs.

Choose lockable interior door knobs for privacy where needed

This particular door handle is a lockable one that can be locked from the bathroom side. If you want to add a pretty knob to a closet door, you probably wouldn’t need the locking feature. 

Upgrade to a good quality door knobs.

We’ve been using Schlage door knobs for years now, and are totally impressed with the quality and durability. They are easy to wipe clean and disinfect and are sturdy and solidly made. We have their exterior door handles as well, and have been very happy with how they still look brand new after years of use.

Use large, modern drawer pulls to improve the look of boring bi-fold closet doors

Another place that door handles can work magic is on closet doors. I’ve converted some of our bi-fold closet doors into french doors with shiplap. I would have loved to have done it here, too, but this small door system wasn’t quite sturdy enough for it.

Instead, we added two handles in the center, giving it a “faux french door” appearance.

They give the space so much more style!
