Decorating Jam Jar as Gifts

We’ve been making batch after batch of blackberry jam around here.  {It seems to be the only “preserving” thing I seem to get to these days…}  Not only do I like a little of it on toast with peanut butter, I also like to give a jar-full as a gift sometimes.  Before I toted them down to the cooler storage area of the basement, I decorated a few so that they were ready to grab when I need a quick hostess gift.

I first traced around a lid onto cocoa colored cardstock and cut out the circles.

Then I unscrewed the rings, placed the paper on the lids and put the rings back on.

I had a bright idea to print the labels out on the computer, but an untimely “your black ink has run out” message put a halt to that plan.  So, old school printing with a fine marker had to do. {I punched out the shapes with a scallop punch on cream cardstock.}

I then used some black and white baker’s twine {a gift from my sister-in-law} to tie a little bow around the front…

A little button glued on with hot glue was the final touch.
