How to Decorate Jam Jars to Give as Gifts
We’ve been making batch after batch of blackberry jam around here. {It seems to be the only “preserving” thing I seem to get to these days…} Not only do I like a little of it on toast with peanut butter, I also like to give a jar-full as a gift sometimes. Before I toted them down to the cooler storage area of the basement, I decorated a few so that they were ready to grab when I need a quick hostess gift.
Supplies Needed:
- Cardstock paper in the color of your choice. Two different colors are used in the example below.
- Scallop circle paper punch
- Scissors
- Pen
- Fine Tipped Art Marker
- Baker’s Twine
- Buttons (These flower buttons are so cute!)
Step by step instructions for decorating a jam jar with paper.
- Trace around a jam jar lid that is the same size as the jam jar lid you are decorating. Cut them out using a pair of sharp scissors.
- Unscrew the ring from the sealed jam jar and place the cut out circle-shaped cardstock on top of the lids and screw the rings back on.
- Using the scallop paper punch, cut out a coordinating cardstock color and using your own handwriting, label the jam jars with whatever message you’d like. Attach them to the top of the lids by using a glue stick, glue, glue gun, or a rolled up piece of tape.
- Wind some bakers twine around the jar a few times and then tie it with a bow. Use a hot glue gun to attach a button to the center of the bow.
A little button glued on with hot glue was the final touch.
~all ready to grab and give!
Other Handmade Gifts for Friends, Family, Co-Workers, Hostesses, or Teachers
- Sew a pretty lavendar sachet bag
- Bake up a batch of goodies and package it up with a gift tag.
Looks yummy Rita! I actually like the hand-written labels, adds a nice personal touch:-)
