Spring Coffee Table Decor
Today we’re talking coffee tables. Ours is a hard working piece of furniture. It sits smack dab in the middle of the Living Room and holds everything from magazines and books to piles of laundry and remote controls. It’s a nice grounding point for furniture to group around (and a great place to perch our feet!).
Why then, is it so hard to figure out how to make it pretty? I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for new ways to arrange things on the top…and yet be practical, too.
Basic Tips for Coffee Table Decor
- Find some inspiration
I often find I go to Pinterest for some inspiration when looking for decor ideas. My eyes landed on this pretty arrangement, and I decided to use it as my jumping off point for my own coffee table decor.
Other places you may find home decor inspiration are magazines, books, and stores.
- Look for things you already have that could be used as similar items to give a similar feel to the space.
Although I knew I didn’t have exactly the same items, I thought I’d use it as a jumping off point. This is what I came up with:
- Study your inspiration picture closely to determine the specifics of how it is laid out and use a similar approach when putting your specific items together.
- Vary the heights of items, consider using a tray to arrange items in a unit, and mix together a variety of textures.
In studying the inspiration picture closely, I saw a number of different elements working together:
- a tray
- varying heights (a stack of old books helps do that)
- natural elements
- smooth and rough textures
I’ve also noticed a bit of greenery adds lots of life to a vignette. I’ve given up on the real stuff…but the fake stuff doesn’t look too bad (and is a much better investment for me!)
This little coffee table arrangement was the start of a new Spring look in the Living Room. I’ll be back later to show the whole room.
(Do you leave room for your feet on the coffee table too??;))

Hi Christine, I just popped over to your blog to check out the article. What an awesome collection of inspirational ideas. I’m so honored that my old window is in there, too. Thanks for the shout out.
Hi Rita
I love your display! Where did you get the Artichoke? You give me so much inspiration to try replicating yours. Thank you
Hi Rene, Thanks for your sweet comment. Where did I get the artichoke? Oh dear…it was so long ago I don’t even remember!! I think it was on clearance somewhere like Micheals or Walmart. My sister and I have a joke about artichokes, so I always laugh when I see one…:)
Oh I cook artichokes ALL the time!!! Bwahhaha :0 Love your spring posts! So inspirational!
What a cute vignette. I like how you took inspiration from the first photo and then made your own design. I love the use of a tray, too. Nice job. Thanks for for sharing at On Display Thursday!
