Cozy Fall Decor Ideas using Sunflower Yellow

As the hot Summer sun fades to the cool breezes of Fall, I like to change out my home decor for a cozier vibe, too.

I’m passionate about creating a seasonal look and feel without going out and spending a fortune to do so!

I often start the process by choosing a color to start with – like the time I used blue fall decor ideas.

This year, I’ve been drawn to yellow, so I chose to use the color of sunflowers as my starting point for our Living & Dining Room Fall decor.

Sunflower Yellow Fall Decor Ideas for the Living Room

Lots of living  happens in our small townhouse’s open concept living and dining room. It’s the place where I love to change up the decor seasonally (using things I already have!).

I like to start seasonal decorating with the throw pillows on the couch. I recently discovered how easy it is to make zippered pillow covers. They don’t require much fabric, and they don’t take up much room to store!

For Fall, I added a sunflower yellow pillow into the mix of warm rust and harvest gold. The pattern mixing adds to the boho casual living room style (with a little Coastal Grandmother thrown in) that I’m drawn to these days.

A trip to a nearby Micheals store helped me find some actual faux sunflowers.

I added them together with other Fall faux foiliage and placed them in a stoneware pitcher to add a pop of Fall color to the space.

(Later, I turned them into a Fall Wreath for the front door!)

I also fell in love with this cute Fall display at Micheals – which is perfect for the center of the coffee table. When living in a small space, we find we don’t like to have the coffee table cluttered with a large display.

I replaced the white and yellow decor in the billy bookcase units with items that were more “warm and cozy”.

Things like antique books, wooden boxes & bowls, candles, leather accents, black decor, and baskets are perfect as Fall decor ideas.

Decorating with pumpkins is also a quick way to add Fall style to a room, and these little pumpkins on a cake stand help add some Fall color to the otherwise mostly neutral decor in the living room bookshelves.

Behind the living room is our Dining Room space. I love decorating it for the seasons!

The diy farmhouse shelves above our antique buffet are the perfect place to intersperce some yellow fall decor.

In fact, the Sunflower sign was the inspiration for all my Fall decorating this year!

I didn’t even know I was looking for it til it found me…;)

I loved adding in vintage pyrex, ironstone dishes, and my mom’s fostoria glasses on the shelf.

I absolutely love quick easy fall table decorations, and this idea couldn’t be simpler!

It’s just a wooden cutting board layered with a faux wreath with a candle in the center.

I quickly placed some yellow flowers and Fall colored berries into the otherwise plain greenery wreath to add some of that sunflower yellow into the mix of colors.

Woven chargers under layered white plates, yellow paper napkins, and white cloth napkins with wooden napkin rings finish off the look.

The table runner was sewed last year for the simple boho tablescape I made.

That ends the Fall home tour at my house.
