How to Make Crispy Bacon in the Oven
Make perfectly crispy bacon in the oven with this easy, splatter-free method. Simple, reliable, and great for cooking a full package!

Why You’ll Love this Bacon in the Oven Recipe
Years ago, I worked as a head chef and food services manager at a year-round retreat center and camp, cooking for anywhere from 30 to 250 people a day. I brought home a lot of practical, real-life kitchen tips from that job — and this oven-baked bacon method is one of them. It’s how we cooked bacon for a crowd and had it ready by breakfast, and it works just as beautifully at home.
Here’s why you’ll love it too: the bacon turns out perfectly crispy, there’s no splattering or grease burns, and cleanup is easy thanks to parchment paper. It’s a true never-fail method I’ve used hundreds of times. You can cook a whole package at once, making it perfect for a crowd — or for cooking ahead and reheating throughout the week when you want bacon with your eggs.

What you’ll need for this bacon in the oven recipe:
- Bacon – whatever is your favorite kind. (Except, I don’t recommend turkey bacon for this recipe. I’ll talk more about that in the frequently asked questions section.)
- Parchment Paper
- A large baking sheet with a lip to collect the grease.
Bacon in the Oven
Enjoy perfectly crispy bacon without all the mess and fuss with this simple crispy bacon in the oven recipe. If you’re cooking for two or a whole big crew, this easy cooking method is a perfect way to get a bunch of bacon cooked all at once with no muss or fuss!
Ingredients
- 20 slices of bacon (or 1 package)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Line the baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper and lay out the bacon strips so they are just barely touching each other.
- Once they are all laid out, place them in the hot oven and set the timer for 8 minutes.
- At this 8 minute mark, the bacon should be shrunken down and the grease collecting in the bottom of the pan. We like to flip the bacon at that point and pour off some of the excess grease into a can. (Be VERY careful pouring off grease, as it is very hot. If pouring it from the pan feels too cumbersome and dangerous, you can use a spoon and take off some of the excess.)
- Place back into the oven and set the timer for 8 more minutes. When the timer dings, check on the bacon and check if it is your preferred amount of crispiness. If you want it crispier than it is, put it back in the oven for a few minutes.
- Once the bacon has reached your preferred crispy level, place the bacon on a paper towel lined plate to soak up the excess grease.

Step by Step Instructions for how to cook bacon in the oven:
(Refer to the printable recipe card above for more detailed instructions.)

1.Lay bacon strips on parchment lined pan.
2.Bacon can overlap slightly, & place in a preheated 375 degree oven.
3.Flip over after baking 8 minutes.

4.Bake 8 more minutes or until cripsy.
5.Transfer to paper towel lined platter.
6. Serve!
I found that the baking time can fluctuate a bit based on the type and thickness of the specific bacon you purchase. Thicker and thick cut bacon will take longer to become crispy, so it will require more time in the oven.
And, there you have it! Delicious, crispy bacon done in the oven.
