Baby Name Signs
I’m headed to a baby shower this weekend for three little babies (no, they’re not triplets!). I decided that this time it would be fun to give something handmade.
I’ve had 3 painter’s canvases lying around for years. For some reason, I was scared to try to paint on them (why?…I do not know…). I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try them out. I wanted to do something with their names, but not so “baby-ish” that it couldn’t grow with them.
After all was said and done, this is what they look like…
I designed Tate and Rhea’s in photoshop and printed the fonts out on my printer.
I transferred the design using transfer paper, after the base coat had dried (a blow dryer makes that happen lickety-split!). {You can see a basic sign making tutorial here.}
After the letters were painted, I used painter’s tape to mask off for stripes. {All paint used was acrylic craft paint. And painting on canvas is a dream! I don’t know why I waited so long to try it.}
I wish I could say I just whipped up the design for Autumn’s, but that would be untrue…
I modified one I found here…
Aren’t those just the cutest nursery art prints?? Those prints (and many others) are available at the etsy site Just Bunch. In fact, you can purchase the above 4 for $56.
Now that this “fun” painting is over…I need to get back to painting that deck!
