Painting the Deck

I fully realize that most {normal} people already have their outdoor painting projects completed by Labour Day.  I, however, just started mine.  As much as I love painting things inside, I detest painting anything outdoors.  I’m not really sure why, but I think my aversion to outdoor painting began the year my dad asked my sisters and I to paint the big red barn…

Our deck has been in desperate need of attention for a few years now.  In fact, I bought the stain to paint it last year already.

I decided I’d better stop procrastinating and just “quickly” get this job done.  One more winter just might rot these poor dry boards away…

Our deck is lovely and large…

I moved everything off, swept it well, and got out the stain.  I bought the color “Black Pearl” {transparent stain} knowing it was a big risk.  I knew I’d either love it…or hate it.  Thankfully, we love it…  (Whew!)

Now’s when I planned to post the {amazing?} “after” picture…but, alas, we ran out of stain halfway through…

Obviously, this post will be continued…

For “quickly”, this project isn’t!  Ha!Smile  In fact, if my husband wouldn’t have taken pity on me, I’d probably still be working on the first corner…
