Staycationing

This has been the second week our boys have had off from school for their Spring Break.  We decided to do a “Staycation” this year.  You haven’t heard of it?  Well, it’s the “stay-home-for-vacation” thing.  Last week we just hung out here at home, and really didn’t do any vacationy things.  But, for the past few days, we’ve been up on Mount Washington.  You’d think, by its name that it would be in the state of Washington.  But, no, it’s right here on Vancouver Island and is only a 1/2 hour drive for us.  So close…yet we rarely go there!

It was a delightfully relaxing time.  My husband and two of the boys went skiing one day.  The other son and I were happy to stay back and relax with books, movies, and snacks.  In between all that busyness {ha!}, I also did a little painting while gazing out at the ski-hill…  Ahh…I could get used to that!

Today we headed down the mountain and back to our house.  It always amazes me to be on a mountain…and see the ocean, too!  Sadly, I was so in “vacation” mode that I forgot to take many pictures…  But here’s one about half way down:

{It’s a little hard to distinguish between all that blue…but that is the ocean underneath all those fluffy clouds.}

Now we’ve gotten all our bags unpacked and are getting settled back into our normal routine again.  The sun is shining, and it’s fun to see all the new little flowers peeking out of the ground.

Ahhh…it feels like Spring…

  1. Funny that you should mention this subject… I have a 900 word article due next Friday on vacationing locally. Sadly I haven’t even begun… nothing like burning the midnight oil! But my husband says it how I work best (at least that is how it was when I was taking some college classes after we got married.)
