An “All-Season” Entryway Vignette

This post has been sitting in my drafts folder for a few days now.  It was initially titled “2 Spring Entryway Looks”.

It seems I’ve jumped the gun on the “Spring” part.  This is what it looks like out my front door today:

Our son is thrilled with the school snow day.

So…forget about the “Spring” part.  We’ll just call this a neutral arrangement!:)

And now…on to the regularly scheduled post! ~

Although I’m still working on the bathroom makeover,  progress is slooooow.  Having to wait at least 24 hours between coats for paint to dry is trying my patience!

So, while I’m waiting for that to happen, I thought it was time move on to other projects.

One of my favorite things to decorate in our home is the entryway dresser.   I treat it like others treat their fireplace mantels.  While they’re changing things up with each season, I like to change up the arrangement on and above the dresser.   I’m always on the lookout for simple arrangements and Pin them on my Pinterest board when I see something I like.  Then when I’m in the mood for a change, I check out the board for inspiration.

This time, I was inspired by simple looks that included black picture frames.  Here’s how the first look came together:

The Norman Rockwell pictures hung in my kitchen at one point, and the framed Marriage License in the living room.

Those white pitchers were a steal of a deal from Walmart at one point, and I find they are the most versatile decor item I have.  They look good everywhere!

Although I loved the look and simplicity of the arrangement, I realized that ~practically speaking ~ it wasn’t going to function well.  You can see in the picture above that the corner tends to be dark.  I took that picture with the door wide open (while it was pouring rain outside!) and the light flooding in.  Normally, there is NO light there.

So…I needed to make some adjustments to add in a lamp.  Here’s look #2:

Although I miss the pretty pitchers and greenery, the lamp will add the practicality that we need here.

I hope you’re all having a good day…

whether its raining, snowing, or sunshiney in your neighborhood!
