Paint the Dining Room…Check!

My mom always said that when you start any project, it always gets worse before it gets better.  I thought of that as my Dining Room looked like this this morning…

I hate having the house all discombobulated, so when I paint, I try to do it quickly.

Oh, my.  This paint job tried my patience.  For whatever reason, it took not one, not two, but THREE!coats of paint to cover these walls.  I thought I could be done by noon.  Silly, silly me…

I don’t know what the deal was.  This 1920’s drywall is a really funny material, though.  It sort of “drinks” the paint!  I squeezed out every drop of that paint, and barely had enough.

I wanted to try to save the words on the wall, so I taped a square around it…{I could say that I carefully measured and marked with a T-square.  That would be lying, though.  I just eyed it…}

And here is painted in Mountain Peak White (a Benjamin Moore color that General Paint mixed for me).

The lighting isn’t very good (since I took this pic at 7 p.m.!)…  There will be better ones to come.

The background around the words was the previous wall color.  I still haven’t decided if I like those words like that.  They might come down after all.  I reserved a little paint just in case…

Now it’s a fresh, clean slate…  I can’t wait to start layering in the fun stuff!
