My {Miraculous} Dream Come True…

Have you ever had a dream that you’ve pondered in your heart for a long, long time?

…Me, too.

And, with that dream, did you also realize that it would only come true by some miraculous act of God?

…Me, too…

Well, I’m here to tell you that I dreamed…and He did His miracle!!

I’m getting ahead of myself.  Let me start at the beginning.

When my husband and I were first married, we set up house in Vanderhoof, BC.  I loved it there…mostly because of all the wonderful people who welcomed me into their church and community.  One of those people was my friend Kerry-Lea.  Neither of us can remember how we really became friends.  We just did.  I do remember chats at the kitchen table, movie nights in her parents’ basement, a mushroom-themed dinner party {you had to be there!}, and shopping together for her wedding dress.

Then she married her sweetheart and moved down to the good ol’ US of A.  I moved from Vanderhoof to an island off an island.  Although breathtakingly beautiful, it’s not exactly a “stop-over place” on her way anywhere!

I haven’t hugged Kerry-Lea’s neck for over 20 years…

Last year we touched base again via Facebook when her mom became ill.  {You can read about that here and here.}  It was delightful to connect with her again, but, oh, it was such a sad time to do so…

Ever since that time, I’ve prayed earnestly that God would somehow in His awesome time and power provide a way for me to see her.  I remember as a little girl being amazed by stories missionaries told about how God provided specific things in incredible, miraculous ways.  Now I’m a missionary {at a Bible camp}, and I have been humbled over and over again by how God has done the same for us.  It’s amazing, really.

And, He just did it again.

Kerry-lea and her husband have just had an addition built on their house.  I’ve been watching the progress via Facebook pictures and loving the transformation.  A few weeks ago, Kerry-lea e-mailed me and asked…

…if I’d come decorate it for them!!!

I got goose bumps.  I squealed.  I jumped up and down.  I thanked the Lord for the miracle.

And, I said, “Yes!”

So, in just a few days, I’ll be rolling my carry on bag through various airports in North America, snacking on a 2 Tablespoon-portions of Bits n Bites, catching up on my reading, and people watching to my heart’s content.

And, at 10:30 at night, when I step off that plane in Omaha, Nebraska, Kerry-Lea will be there…

…And I get to hug her neck!!

I’m so excited I can hardly stand it!

So…all these words to tell you I’m going on a little holiday.  This blog is going on a holiday, too.  I thought about trying to arrange for guest posters, but, honestly, there just weren’t enough hours in the day.

I’m also not taking my laptop along {mainly because I don’t own one!}, and frankly, I just want to savour every. single. moment. there.

I’ll be sure to tell you all about it when I get back.

“See you” then!

Blessings to you all…and keep on dreaming!;)

  1. Omaha, Nebraska!! OH how incredibly exciting!! You see that is where I met my husband, where we started our married life together, where we bought our 1st home (actually Plattsmouth, a small town just south of Omaha kitty corner to the post office), where our 1st two children were born, where I discovered a love for preserving and gardening, actually went back to college for a while and even more importantly it is where my husband asked the Lord to be his personal Savior and where I got right…. so it is a place I will always hold near and dear in my heart!! Oh the days we spent at the Henry Doorly Zoo, truly an incredible sight to be held especially with all the new displays and the Leid Jungle (an indoor “jungle which truly is spectacular), the Air museum which houses some incredible aircraft, and downtown… oh how I love downtown!! Do you know if Kerry-Lea likes Runzas? think bread dough filled with a mixture of hamburger, sauteed diced cabbage/onions. Truly delicious!! I know you are going to be so busy with decorating but I am just so excited for you to be spending time in my old stomping grounds! Once again enjoy! (and yes God is so good and it is truly wonderful watching Him work!!)

  2. Isn’t it wonderful how Facebook has reconnected so many friends and family. I had a similar dream come true last year when I travelled with my sister to our birthplace in England. We met family we’d only seen on FB – it was truly wonderful.

Have a terrific time with your friend – she will be so happy when you decorate for her!!

  3. Oh how wonderful! I know the excitement you are feeling! I had it happen to me a year ago when my friend from way back flew out to see her brother. I was so thankful he had moved to our town and after 20 plus years I could catch up with an old friend. Have a wonderful time together!
