Throw Back Thursday ~ Painted European Cupboard Doors

A few months ago a reader found my old post on painted European cupboard doors and wondered how the paint was holding up.

What a good question!

It’s been 4 years since I did that paint job, and the test of time is a good marker as to how well it worked out.

If you weren’t reading my blog way back then, we did a budget renovation of our kitchen. Using things we already had and shopping “thrifty”, we set out to make it more “us” without breaking the bank! The existing cupboards were actually quite nice, but I wasn’t wild about the wooden trim and lack of handles.

I taped off the wooden part, primed it with oil based primer, and painted it with Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White. (You can read the original tutorial here.)

Now that 4 years have gone by, I must say, I still quite like my cupboards. The paint shows the most wear on the two doors immediately situated below the sink. They definitely get the most use!

If I get motivated, a quick coat of Cloud White and they’ll be good as new again…
