Happy Birthday, Dear Joel…
We interrupt this regularly scheduled series for a very important announcement.
Today is our son’s birthday.
It’s the first time in 19 years he hasn’t been here to celebrate with in person. (Not that I would actually get his cake baked on the right day, though… That would be a downright miracle, I believe.)
Oh, mercy, wasn’t he a cutey patutey?? And note those pjs that got too short so I cut the feet out…
Wasn’t I a thrifty mommy?
Or was I just tacky?…
Don’t comment.
Since this series is on cooking, it seems only right that Joel be a part of it in some way. As you can see, he was a fan of cooking at a very early age. Actually, he was a fan of eating the baking, so he decided to take it up himself. If I recall correctly, that particular picture was taken the year I decided that baking Christmas sugar cookies should be a yearly, family tradition. The tradition ended that year… The kids ate so much dough in the rolling out process we hardly had any left to bake!:)
Happy Birthday, Joel!
We miss your smiling face around here, and we hope you have a wonderful day of celebration.
