Guest Posting and Olioboard

I discovered a lovely new blog friend a few months ago.  Shauna from Satori Design for Living is another Canadian blogger (yea!) from Calgary, AB.  Her blog is full of beautiful images, practical ideas, and inspiring craft projects.  I’ve been following along with her Holiday Countdown Series and find her tips most helpful.

She asked a while ago if any bloggers would like to participate in a Design Challenge.  Honestly, I didn’t quite know what that meant, but I answered, “yes!”

Her “assignment” was so much fun, AND I discovered a really neat internet design tool.

Shauna gave me these three headboard choices:

I was to choose one and design a room around it.  (I wrote about my final design as a guest post on her blog today.)  Oh, how fun!

The problem was, I needed to find some internet program so I could be a “virtual designer”!

Enter Olioboard.

Caution:  This could become addictive!  {tee hee}

Olioboard is a FREE online tool.  You’ll need to sign up and, yes, remember yet another password for future use. But, once that’s done, you’re good to go.

To get started, I watched this very helpful video tutorial:

Olioboard has a HUGE selection of home decor items in categories on the right hand side.  When you see something you like, you simply drag it and drop it to the blank canvas on the left.

If you would like to add a specific item that you’ve found online, you can do that also.

Here are some samples I found on Olioboard today.  Rooms can be designed in an almost 3-D effect,

or you can group together a collection of items like this:

I discovered the sheer joy of designing a room with absolutely no budgetary restrictions.  It was a hoot!  (And, I realized I have very expensive taste.  Ha ha!)  You can head over to Satori Design for Living if you’d like to see my {Dream} Beach Cottage Bling Bedroom.

{P.S.  This is an unsponsored post.  Olioboard did not pay me to say nice things about their awesome site…  I just really like it!}
