Painter of the Sky
The moment the words of the song flashed on the screen during church this morning, my mind immediately went through the mini “card catalog” of scenes I’ve seen over the past few weeks.
“You paint the night…
You count the stars, and you know them by name
the skies proclaim,
God, you reign”. {Lyrics and music by Lincoln Brewster. You can listen to it here.}
I’m often awestruck by the beauty of creation. Whenever my breath is stolen away by the beauty of a scene, or the fearful moments of a sudden storm, I think of the verse in Romans 1:20,
“For since the creation of the world,
God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”
This life of faith is difficult at times. I think our (well, at least mine anyway!) human nature wants to see God in tangible ways, but He asks us to trust and believe in Him, even though we can’t see Him with our physical eyes.
However, creation itself allows us to have a glimpse of Him and His mighty power…
From the rolling plains of Montana
to the badlands of North Dakota
and everywhere in between and all around, we see evidence of God’s mighty hand.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands…” Psalm 19:1
My sister-in-law and I went out one beautiful evening to try to capture the beauty of the sunset by camera. As I watched the sky change colors minute by minute, I saw first hand the work of my Heavenly Father…
The One who paints the night
also holds my life and knows my heart…
Wow! That thought just blows me away.
May you be blessed by His awesome presence and love today.
These turned out so beautiful! God paints a great picture! It was so much fun to get to have this photo shoot with you! Come again anytime!
