DIY Stump Table
We acquired our stump table right from the beach a long time ago. I needed another table in the Living Room, and nothing seemed easier (or cheaper!) than just picking up a hunk of wood that was just sitting outside in the elements.
It has served us well. I folded an old beach towel and put it on the floor for it to sit on, and every few months, I rotated it so it was sitting on the opposite end. Since it floated around in the ocean for who knows how long, it took quite a while for it to dry out.
While we were cleaning out the dining room to get it ready for its new office makeover, we unearthed some table legs we bought for our little stump table years ago! Honestly, I had forgotten all about them.
So, with our mission to accomplish our unfinished projects a little at a time, my husband broke out the tools and put on the legs. It didn’t take long, and it looked so cute!
However, during the installation process, one of the legs was damaged.
So, while I was trying out the chalk paint on the electric fireplace, I decided to use it on the table legs as well.
After a few coats of paint, they were covered nicely. And, now, (years later!) the table is finished!
I never have sealed it with varnish. I like it just the way it is, and I figure if it survived sitting around in the ocean, it can certainly handle holding a coffee cup every now and then!!:)
