I told my husband recently that after thinking about daily meal prep for 34 years, I’m just plain tired of cooking! Do any of you feel that way, too?

I’ve been on a mission lately trying to figure out how to streamline our meals so they are still yummy, but SIMPLE.

I landed on this greek yogurt bowl breakfast recipe months ago and decided to give it a try. Not only do I love it, so does my husband. I find it tastes delicious and fills me up for hours – which is a win-win in my books!

It can be prepped ahead of time – I love prepping these breakfast bowls ahead of time so I have them all made and ready to go. It’s fun to wake up to breakfast already made and waiting for me in the fridge! It also saves so much time by getting all the ingredients out at once and making multiple bowls at a time. (I like to make 4 or 5 at once.)Here’a a quick little video showing how to quickly make mulitple bowls all at once:

It’s highly customizeable -There isn’t really any hard and fast rules for breakfast yogurt bowls, so you can customize it to your taste and preferences. Choose your favorite flavor of yogurt, nut butter (I prefer almond butter and my husband likes peanut butter) and add different fruit or toppings to your liking.

The glass bowls and lids are reusable – For a while, we made these breakfast bowls each evening before we went to bed in just our cereal bowls with plastic wrap on the top. It totally works, but we were sure going through a lot of plastic wrap! Once we discovered these handy bowls with lids, not only do we save on plastic wrap, they stack so nice in the fridge, too.

It is made with whole foods-If you are trying to eat with whole foods and avoid processed additives, these yogurt bowls will fit right into your goals for healthy eating.

Variations to Yogurt Bowls

There are so many different ways you can put together yogurt bowls. Here are some options for different types of additions:

  • Use any kind of frozen fruit, or even cut up fresh fruit chunks to add.
  • Top your yogurt bowl with your favorite granola.
  • Add in different types of dried fruits or nuts.
  • Sprinkle with coconut for a sweet topping.

Using bowls with lids allows you to make multiple yogurt bowls at once and stack them in the fridge.

Tips & Tricks

  • When these yogurt bowls are refrigerated ahead of time, the nut butter will become cool and thicker. For that reason, my husband likes to stir his together before he refrigerates it.
  • I prefer to use almond butter which isn’t quite as sweet as peanut butter. So right before serving, I drizzle a little pure maple syrup over the top. Then I stir it together.

Products used for this recipe

There are certain things in our kitchen that we reach for on a regular basis and these Anchor Hocking 2 cup bowls with lids are one of them. We got one set years ago and have used them so much, we just got a second set as well!

I put the glass bowls in the dishwasher and wash the lids by hand. If the lids do crack over time, you can get replacement lids. (We put our lids in the dishwasher at first and found that over time, it was hard on them!)

They work perfect for this meal prep recipe as well as leftovers, and my husband takes one in his lunch many days of the week. It’s definitely a purchase that I’d highly recommend. We just bought this set off Amazon and it is absolutely wonderful.

  1. I’ve been married 60 years and YES, I am so tired of cooking! But then I stop and thank the Lord that my husband is still alive and we are blessed to have money to buy groceries and eat out occasionally . What I want to do but haven’t yet is doing the prep work in the morning before I’m so tired. I’ll get there!❤️
