What I Wished I Could Have Blogged About…

It’s a long story.

Shortened, it goes something like this:

1.  For the first time in my live long life, I purchased my very own computer with my very own money.

2.  In the course of the set up process, it decided to spontaneously wipe my hard drive clean of all the digital pictures I have ever stored in the past 6 years.

3.I was very sad  as I remembered picture after picture that was potentially lost forever (like all my boys’ grad photos and pictures of family vacations…).

4.  The computer technologist is still working on retrieving the photos. (It may take up to 3 weeks!!)

5.  I’m still really mad at my new computer and really don’t ever want it back in my house.  (Are there Technology Therapists?)

6.  I can’t stand not blogging anymore, so my husband brought his computer home tonight to prevent further anguish.

7.  If steps 1-4 had not happened, I would have been blogging about these things:

  • I’m not finished decorating for Christmas yet, but I’m having fun going “traditional” this year with lots of natural greenery and sentimental things.  This paper garland is my favorite project so far.

  • My “Office” just hosted its first dinner party.  The “desk” converted nicely back to its original purpose.:)

(And please note that I did actually give my guests plates to eat off of.;)  Those gold chargers are poor substitutes!  I forgot to take a picture when it was all set up and ready to go…)

  • For some odd reason, I got a wild hair that I should make buns in my own kitchen on Saturday.  I decided to try out the Pioneer Woman’s Lemon Blueberry buns…

Turns out, I should have noticed the yeast in my fridge expired MONTHS ago…  They weren’t a complete bomb, but let’s just say I’ll show you a better “after” picture later, ‘kay??:)

  • Before all the hullabaloo with my stupid new computer, I went on a clothes shopping trip with a friend and had SO MUCH fun!  I bought myself some boots, (that I really like) and then agonized over whether I should take them back to pay for the computer repair bills.  After much deliberation…I’m keeping the boots!:)

  • I’ve been blessed with good health for so long that I often take it for granted.  The past few days I’ve had a little scare with my heart acting strange.  I’ve just been to the doctor today and begun tests, but it appears that I just have a strange “extra beating” condition going on.  He told me to stop drinking coffee…  I’ll gladly obey, and am grateful that the solution can be as simple as that…

So, that puts you up to date on all the latest here.  But, before I end, I must share a big tip that I’ve learned the hard way this past week:

While you’re running around thinking about Christmas gifts, give a gift to yourself~  Back up all your precious digital pictures in MORE THAN one place (ie an external hard drive AND a memory stick you tuck away in a fire safe box).

Trust me.  You’ll be so glad you did!

  1. So sorry you are dealing with this!!! We lost a years worth of pics(our year in Merritt) when our computer crashed. I now have a ziplock baggie full of memory cards from the camera. My dad laughs at me but I told him memory cards are small and cheap until I figure out a different way….I am not taking any chances!!! LOVE the boots!!!
