Tongue and Groove Signs

I mentioned on Wednesday that I spent my Saturday painting signs…and I promised that I’d show you some more.

These two are made out of tongue and groove pine boards (reclaimed wood). I first glued them together with carpenter’s glue and let them sit overnight. Then I stained them with Dark Walnut stain and attached straps on the back like I did with these.

This one I base coated in Light Buttermilk and shaded the edges with a dark brown (the specific name escapes me…). The writing is in black.

Fonts used are Lowvetica and Scriptina.

The other one was based on an idea I’d seen in a teenaged-girl’s bathroom. I loved the saying, especially adapted for young girls…

The font is Tondelle.

  1. Hi, I found this on Pinterest and of course came here to check it out. I love your sign! It inspired me to go find some tongue and groove board at Home Depot. I just finished making one for myself, it’s the perfect thing for my entryway. I posted about it on my blog, and included the link back here to give you credit. I didn’t change much about the design at all- I loved everything you did with yours. Good luck with your adventure of officially selling them, you are very talented and will go far I’m sure! 🙂 http://craftykat-mycraftyplayground.blogspot.com/2012/03/he-will-cover-you-with-his-feathers.html
