Add some yummy sweets to your day or dinner with one of these easy dessert recipes from my friend Shirley!
This month, I’ve asked some of my blog friends to come join me at Harbour Breeze Home as guest writers. They are friends that I’ve met through the world of blogging. Some I’ve had the privilege of meeting in person, and others through the magic of internet.
All of them are talented bloggers with amazing ideas for our homes.
Today’s guest is my friend Shirley – who co-wrote a Comfort Foods recipe book series with me! I met her through an online course years ago, and we’ve become great friends as a result.
I’ll let her take it away, but I warn you, these dessert recipes just might make your mouth water…;)
“Easy desserts”- Those two words grab our attention because, well, let’s face it – we all love a good dessert but we also love easy recipes.
What makes a dessert easy to make? The answer is few ingredients for me and less steps to make. No bake desserts are nice too. Ok, before I start sounding like Bubba Gump, let me introduce myself.
Hi, I’m Shirley the blogger behind Intelligent Domestications where I enjoy sharing my recipes, family activities and some around the house DIY projects to make life easier and save a buck. It is my genuine pleasure to be visiting here with Rita and you at Harbour Breeze Home.
Even though Rita and I live thousands of miles apart in two different countries, we have become good friends through our blogs. We had the joy of meeting in person back in 2019 when Rita and her husband visited the southern U.S. and we just happened to be within 100 miles of each other. Meeting in person was surreal and it makes me smile just to reflect back on it.
I greatly admire Rita’s home decorating skills and love watching her Instagram Stories. She’s also a good cook, ya know! I have made her Bread Machine Dinner Rolls multiple times and they come out delicious each time.
Rita has kindly invited me to share a few of my dessert recipes with you today so without further ado, let’s talk desserts!
Desserts Made with Sweet Rolls
Those sweet rolls you can find in the refrigerated section of the grocery store have lots of potential to become a more delectable sweet treat with a small amount of creativity.
Cream Cheese Stuffed Pumpkin Spice Sweet Rolls, are for those of us who enjoy just a little taste of pumpkin spice without the actual pumpkin. Only five ingredients and nothing is expensive. I wanted to try to make them all seem like the soft center roll so I tried a little trick. It worked pretty good.
Cherry Sweet Rolls Not Quite From Scratch remind me of the Cherry Sweet Rolls my Mom used to buy at the grocery store except mine are much better because I stuffed them with cherry pie filling. I love a good recipe cheat including this one when I used the packaged icing for the top.
One more dessert made from sweet rolls is this Scrumptious Caramel Iced Apple Cinnamon Rolls. Only four ingredients in this easy dessert recipe. These sweet rolls are stuffed with apple pie filling in a similar way as the one’s with cherry except these are individual and not quite as fully stuffed.
Desserts made with Crescent Rolls & Apples
This easy recipe for Homemade Crescent Apple Turnovers are a family favorite. I used to make these and take them to the coffee shop at Church on Wednesday nights where they quickly disappeared.
I enjoy pairing fruit with my dessert recipes and these Jumbo Crescent Apple Cinnamon Rolls are proof. I made these with fresh apples. If you are thinking I love desserts with apples, you are so right. It’s usually the Fall of the year when I get inspired to make apple desserts.
This one is an old recipe which I call Pecan Apple Raisin Crescents and it’s involves using the iron skillet, one of my favorite kitchen tools. If you love the combination of apples, raisins and nuts in desserts, this one is a must try.
Tricks with Cake Mix Desserts
Ready to eat in about an hour and a half these Crockpot Apple Dumplings are made with only three ingredients. They make your house smell delicious while they are cooking too. This recipe ranks high among my readers and can be made with fresh apples or canned apple pie filling.
Strawberry Cake Mix Brownies smell amazing while they are cooking in the Crockpot. A nice easy dessert for anytime and I have even made these for an easy Valentine dessert for the family.
Two Ingredient Pineapple Angel Food Cake. Ohhhh, this cake is so good and it’s almost hard to believe just how easy it is to mix up. All you need is two ingredients, a bowl, a spatula for stirring and the pan to bake it in. Don’t tell anyone you’re making it so you can eat the whole thing!
Soft & Chewy Strawberry Cake Mix cookies. If you have never tried cake mix cookies, it’s time for you to treat yourself. These are super easy to throw together and another good Valentine’s dessert you can make at home. You can see them displayed on a Vintage Valentine’s Tablescape I made for my family few years ago in our home.
No Bake Desserts
Vanilla Milkshake with Sprinkles. Make this anytime of the year but be sure to make these in the summer to help cool down. Such a fun sweet treat to make for the family.
You can whip up this No Churn Ice Cream Chocolate Toffee Flavor Ice Cream and enjoy the old fashioned taste of homemade ice cream. This recipe does have more steps but it’s still easy and one you will use again and again.
Let’s not forget a good holiday season no bake dessert. Make this Easy Festive Christmas Bark for the family or package it pretty for gifting. It’s a delicious combination of sweet and salty.
Try any or all of these 13 easy dessert recipes. If you are anything like me, always busy, then you love a good recipe cheat like I use in my sweet rolls, Crescent apple desserts and tricks with cake mix desserts.
