Whirling Dervish Wannabe?

Before I start today’s post, I first want to thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comments on the post about my mom. I really wrote it mainly as a memory for myself, but the reader response was greater than any other post I’ve written.  Thank you for your kind words.  They blessed my heart.  I would normally answer each comment personally, but time has gotten away on me.  My heart feels with those of you who have gone through or are going through the process of dealing with dementia with someone you love.  Blessings to you all.

It’s Saturday.  I purposed in my mind and heart today that I’d stay home.  and clean.  and do laundry.  and rearrange.  and organize.  and make everything pretty again.

But, alas, my mind is still busy up at the camp kitchen.

There is so much I want to do.

at home.

and in the kitchen.

and on this blog.

As I’ve been whipping around dealing with fruit flies and spider webs, I decided I wished I was a whirling dervish.

Then, I began pondering that term, “What is a whirling dervish after all?”

So I looked it up:

whirling dervish – a dervish whose actions include ecstatic dancing and whirling

Oh, dear.  Maybe that’s not what I wish to be after all! (And on another tangent, what’s a “dervish”??)

What I do wish to be is someone with abounding physical strength, energy, and the ability to “do it all”.

The nagging pain in the back of my throat indicates I’ve probably just caught my husband’s after-the-summer cold.  {Thanks, Darlin!}

I guess I can’t do it all, after all.

Bummer.

But, I’m really excited about some of the ideas floating around in my head.  I’ve always wanted this blog to be something that comes straight from my heart ~ a reflection of my thoughts and current projects.

So, I’m hoping to share my “camp cook journey” with all of you.

Although my passions still lie in organization, decor, and craft projects, I’m really excited about this little cooking chapter in my life, too.

But, for now, Irwin just brewed up the most delicious smelling Montana Coffee Traders Crème Brule coffee.

It’s time for coffee break!:)

*That strange picture of the fly on a jar is my experiment with a fruit fly trap.  It works!  I found it somewhere online, but now can’t find it again.  Basically it is a half-jar full of apple cider vinegar (it needs to be that kind), a drop of dawn dish soap, and fill to the top with water.  The fruit flies are attracted to the vinegar, but are “trapped” by the bubbles. It’s genius!!

**And, although doorknobs aren’t the most beautiful site in the world, the one pictured is surely beautiful to me.l  After a month of no doorknob on our main bathroom, it seems downright decadent to have one again!:)
