The New Pretty

My days have been filled with lists ~ to do lists, menu ideas, grocery lists, and schedules .  Our days here at Camp Homewood are gearing up to “full tilt” and I’m working hard to stay ahead of things in the camp kitchen.

I’ve been recently posting a Fashion over 40 post each Wednesday.  I’ve joined Alison’s Spring Fashion Challenge and she  so graciously included me this lovely post.  I’ve been so inspired to see how other ladies are gaining confidence in their clothing choices, and learning to feel “pretty” and confident in their appearance.

I’m working on that in a whole different way these days.  My “cute and comfortable” look most often includes close-toed food safe approved shoes and an apron!

I will also probably be giving my 24 hour deodorant a workout and smell like onions!

Sounds pretty, doesn’t it? 😉

The other day, my friend Sue and I were wandering around a beautiful gift shop down island.  Amidst the grain sack pillows and beautiful chalk painted furniture, I found a sign that said this:

HAPPY IS THE NEW PRETTY

It stopped me in my tracks.

I totally agree.  If a person is filled with joy and laughter and encourages others to see the bright blessings in life, it is one of the most beautiful things of all.

That is my prayer for my life ~ especially in this season of hard work, long days, and cooking meals (which I don’t really love to do!)…

Despite the fact my fashion attire might be far from “the latest trend”, I’m praying for a heart that is filled to overflowing with the beautiful fragrance of Jesus, and that it will spill over and give joy to those He brings in my path.

I have to remind myself of that often… and to also “marinade” & rest in His presence even if my days are filled to the brim with hard work.

I’d appreciate your prayers for me in the busy months ahead.  I have no idea how often I’ll be able to post on this blog but you can be sure I’ll pop in whenever I can. If you notice long periods of time without a post, just picture me up in the camp kitchen…

cooking and laughing up a storm…;)
