Shabby Chic Bird Mobile
I had an e-mail the other day from a lady who saw these bird ornaments that I made for last year’s Christmas craft show:
She was wondering if I had any left over for purchase, since she was making a mobile for her new baby’s nursery and needed some “shabby chic fabric birds”. We conversed back and forth over the next few hours, and I ended up making 5 little itty-bitty baby birds for her project. They are about 1/2 the size of the original birds, and, oh, was it ever fun!
Each bird was made out of a heavy damask tapestry fabric with burlap wings and gathered canvas tail feathers.
Since they don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, the accessories are sort of “neutral”, but all have a little hint of light aqua blue in them.
I don’t know what she is using to hang her birds from, but in doing a bit of research I found that sometimes they are just hung from a simple twig.
Sadly, I’ve now used up my stash of that particular fabric. Of course, in looking at the fabric store today, I found nothing even remotely like it… But I found something else that I like oodles and oodles. If all goes well {wish me luck!} I’ll be back tomorrow with a (no sew!) bird mobile tutorial for you!
