Summer Update

As the summer just flies by, I thought I’d jot down a quick update on the happenings around here…

  • Although this blog has been short on posts, I’ve been working on adding some more to our camp blog.  You can read about yesterday’s first day of camps (and last week’s family camp) here.
  • My house has been sadly neglected during this busy time.  In fact, last week I had some surprise visitors.  After they left, I just howled at the state of my house.  They came to “check out my kitchen”…  I should have taken a picture.  Dirty dishes were on the counter and my two {outdoor…but only in good weather!} wicker chairs were “drip drying” on the floor.  I forgot to bring them in out of a big rain shower…
  • When I do have time to do house things again…I think my next project will be the Dining Room.  I’ve been researching ideas…
  • Today I’m packing my bag to head out tomorrow to visit my family in Montana.  In the 19 years we’ve worked at this camp, this is only the second time I’ve gone travelling in the summer. {Perhaps we won’t encounter snow flurries?…I hope…}  I’m so excited I can hardly stand it!  {My goal is to try to only take a carry on.  Hmmm…can I do it?}
  • I bought some teeny tiny plants early this summer.  They are finally growing and blooming.  It’s like Christmas to see what they actually look like!

  • If the weather stays nice long enough…I need to paint the deck!
  • We’ve had a very rainy summer…but yesterday the sun came out.  It was a delightful site indeed!

Well…I must get packing.

Blessings to you today~

  1. I, being one of your 'surprise visitors', thought your place looked great– just a little more lived in than the pictures show! I always wondered how you could keep your home in such tip top shape with 3 men in the house!! 😉 Love the changes and looking forward to seeing the Dining Room remake!
    Have a great trip to visit your family!

  2. Aneta…It was so fun to see you, and to laugh with you over the state of my kitchen! I knew you understood! I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Next time, slot in some extra time for coffee here!:)

  3. I know what you mean about guests seeing your "lived in" home. We're renovating our home so friends want to come by and check out our (very slow!) progress… and what they see is dust that I can't keep up with, building supplies stored in the corner of the dining room, walls without art because who can decorate in the mess?! Fortunately my friends can see through the mayhem to the bones of what we're creating, and it sounds like your friends can see past yours too 🙂
    Enjoy your trip home!!
