The Trials of Technology

I’m not really one of those “techy- types” -although I do appreciate it once I figure it out!:)  I guess blogging fits into that category as well.  I’ve surprised myself at how much I actually enjoy this little hobby.  One of the things I like about it is how it “encourages” me to learn new things technology-wise.

I was doing some research this weekend, and decided I needed to take the plunge and download a program called “Live Writer”.  From everything I’ve read, it should make the process of actually writing a blog much easier.

I read tutorial after tutorial before I actually got brave enough to hit the download button. Once I did…oh, boy…things got complicated fast.

Remember how I wrote quite a while ago that our computer was acting funny? Well, clicking that button was the last proverbial straw.  Now I had to do something about our sick computer.

What followed was 3 hours with the phone stuck to my ear.  I talked to 4 Dell repairman – the last one located in India.  He stuck with me for 2 1/2 hours.  In the end, everything was wiped off our computer (thankfully it was already backed up on the hard drive) and we now have the “bare bones” of an out-of-factory computer.  It’s an extreme “purging” of technology.  It feels kind of good.

And now after about 200 updates finally installed, I’m happy to report I’m  typing this in my new Live Writer program.  Yippee Skippee!  It finally worked!:)

*Disclaimer:  As this is a new program and I don’t have a clue yet what I’m doing, this post is a “test”.  If it looks ridiculous, now you know why!
