Master Bedroom Makeover Reveal

I’ve been having so much fun doing our Master Bedroom Makeover! In cased you missed the Master Bedroom Befores Tour, let me show you what it looked like when this project got underway:

It was a whole lot of beige (and boring!) ~ and was a great blank slate to work with.  After spending lots of time dreaming and studying inspiration pictures, little by little we worked on projects that made big impact without a huge financial investment.

Here’s what it looks like now:

Although we live in a townhouse, I wanted the space to have a Modern Farmhouse feel. The project was startedby painting the walls Simply White by Benjamin Moore, with the feature wall painted Silver Strand by Sherwin Williams.

Taking inspiration from the spaces Joanna Gaines designed for Fixer Upper, I added in layers of color and texture with decor and accessories. The beautiful pillows on the bed were a timely find in Winners, and helped me choose the color palette for the room.

Mismatched nightstands seemed to work together well when paired with matching lamps and old, tall window frames ~ not to mention, they are an essential element of functionality to the space!:)

A previously painted thrift store dresser was given a fresh coat of Alabaster paint by Sherwin Williams and spray painted handles. Topped with wooden and metal boxes to store loose change, pocketknives, and flashlights, it’s the perfect bedside table for my husband.

Adding a chair into the bare corner added interest and has become my favorite corner of the house!

While we were at it, we painted the closet inside as well, which gave it a brighter and fresh look.

If you’re like me, you might want to have the whole before/ after look, so here are some side by side pictures of  that:

We tried desperately to have the cedar chest work at the foot of our bed. But after multiple stubbed toes and bruised shins, we admitted defeat and moved it to a new location. The room feels so much more spacious and comfortable without it.

My husband also put up a new light fixture that we brought from our old house.

I just love how it matches the Modern Farmhouse feel.

We’re so happy with how the room turned out. I still have futher plans for this space when the budget allows, but for now, it reminds me of a feature in a magazine called Good (enough) Housekeeping. For now, it seems like a huge improvement and feels much more relaxing and peaceful ~ and the budget didn’t break the bank! (Woo Hoo)

Since this post is already a bit long, I’ll be back later to give you all the details on the sources, for those of you who want to know.

Thanks for stopping by to read. Let me know if you have any questions on anything, and I’ll do my best to answer.

  1. I’m curious about your head board. Is it the same one only darker? If so, how did you do it?
