Simple Steps for How to Set a Table with Easy Napkin Folding

1. Add a pretty table runner in a Spring color over a white tablecloth.

I always like to start with some sort of a tablecloth base when I’m setting a table.

This time, cheery yellow table runner sets the stage for this colorful mix and match look.

2. Add something down the center of the table to create a centerpiece.

For this Spring tablescape, a bouquet of grocery store tulips in simple vases of varying heights added a pop of fresh Spring color.

I’ve also used faux flowers to create centerpieces in the past, too. This Spring centerpiece idea is quick & easy as well.

3. Layer up the place settings.

As I studied other beautiful tablescapes through images online, I noticed that each place setting often had layers of items.

For this Spring look, I alternated blue textured fabric placemats with woven round placemats as the base. Then vintage china dinner plates were topped with white or patterned china salad plates.

4. Have fun with the napkins.

I had fun mixing patterns with paper napkins in blue and white. Floral and plaid make a great combination, and they looked great with the yellow table runner.

Then, I topped the patterned blue paper napkins with a fabric napkin using an easy napkin folding technique to look like a rose.

Guests always feel so special when they show up to a dinner party to find something special at their plate. This simple cloth napkin folded into a flower is a wonderful addition. Extra leaves from the tulip bunches were trimmed to add a green base to the look.

It just took a few minutes and added a fun little surprise to the table.
