Summer Workwear Outfits ~ Fashion Over 40

This is a year full of transitions for us. Along with transitioning into new jobs and  homes, I’ve needed to transition into a new wardrobe as well. I now work 2 days a week at a local jewelry store. Somehow, my summer camp wardrobe just didn’t transition well into my new workplace!;)

I set out to pick up some Summer work wear that could be mixed and matched together.  In order to be considered as a candidate for this very specific mission, each item had to fit into the following 3 categories:

  1. Be comfortable
  2. Be cool.
  3. Have sleeves!! (Seriously. Why can’t they make more pretty & cool shirts with sleeves?? Don’t even get me started…)

I first journeyed out on the hunt for shoes.  I’s tricky to find both a good fit and comfort for my small (5- 5 1/2) feet. After checking out all the available options within a reasonable shopping distance, I finally landed on the perfect (and only!) pair. These:

FLY by London (affiliate link).  Although a bit of a financial investment, I can say with confidence that they’re also totally worth it. I’ve worn them now for over 2 months, and they still feel like I’m walking on clouds!

Once the shoes were determined, I started in on the hunt for clothes. Without really planning carefully, I ended up with a navy and white color scheme. Here’s what I found:

Linen capris from Old Navy and a Brody Miles tunic top from Winners.

These navy blue capris (Denver Hayes) are my favorite ~ so comfortable, and the top (Alfred Sung) is perfect on cooler days. (Found at our local Mark’s Work Wearhouse)

This skirt & shirt combo also came from Mark’s and both pieces are Alfred Sung.

I like how the pieces mix and match together ~ making it feel like you have many more options. I have a pair of white capris that go well with all the tops, so that helps change things up a bit, too. I’m thinking a nice red or pink top would add nicely into this mix as well. So, the hunt continues…

Now how about you? Where do you find cool and comfortable work wear?

  1. I love navy & white! I think navy is the “new black”! I also love how you mixed patterns – so sharp!
