Hair Products for Short Spunky Hair
I’ve decided that Wednesdays are going to be our “Fashion Over 40” days here. Sometimes I’ll post about outfits and other days – like today – we’ll discuss other fashion/beauty related topics.
Today it’s all about hair. I’ve already shared my saga of how I spent a year growing out my hair…But, it wasn’t the drop dead gorgeous look I was going for. (tee hee hee).
My rockstar hairdresser cut it all off using this picture as her inspiration:
And I LOVE it!!
But, let me tell ya’, girlies, if I don’t use the right products in my hair, it doesn’t look so smashing!;)
I’ve learned the hard way that not all hair products are created equal. I know absolutely no scientific reasons why, but I’ve tried various things, and let me tell you, I’ve finally found what works!!
First of all, my hair may be very different than yours ~ which is obviously a defining factor. But, if your hair is really thick, but fine, then you’re totally in the same boat as me.
Here’s the scoop on what works for me:
First of all, I wash my hair every. single. day. I just use Tresemme shampoo with no conditioner. We have soft water and my hair isn’t dry at all, so that’s what works for me.
Then, I spray the roots of my hair with Redkin’s Rootful 06 and rub it in really well. This is the whole hair game changer for me. I’ve tried mouse and gels gallore, but they just seemed to weigh my hair down and make it go flat so fast! This fluffs it up so nice!
I blow it dry using my fingers and a small round brush, using hair spray at the end.
To make it a bit more defined and “choppy” I use the teensiest tiniest bit of American Crew fiber gum. Again, I’ve tried “gums” before and none have ever worked well for me until this one.
Sometimes, if my hair falls during the day, I’ll sprinkle it with osis dry shampoo. I’m not a real fan of how it makes my hair feel, but it does definitely give flat hair life again.
Now, do tell. What hair styling products do you just love?
Have a stylin’ day!

I am a hair product junkie because I have fine, thin hair. I am always looking for the latest greatest that will work on my hair. I will try the Redken root product. I have always wondered about dry shampoo but never tried any, now you have me wondering if I should give that a shot. I had a hairdresser tell me once that products put on dry hair do more than products put on wet hair and I have found that to be true. I use a mousse but have found that for my thin hair to keep its fullness I have to put in hairspray right after blow drying. If I ever comb that stuff out of it then it goes flat as a pancake. Oh the woes of bad hair!
It’s an amazing article designed for all the internet people; they will take
benefit from it I am sure
