Fall Entryway

I’ve been in awe of the Fall Home Tours of some of my favorite bloggers (like Karrianne’s and Lucy’s, for example).  I suppose if I were asked to participate in one of those tours, I’d get myself motivated to finish a few things a bit quicker around here.  But, I’m still trying to figure out the balance of my work in the camp kitchen and my time here at home.

So, for now, I’m plugging away at one little space at a time as time allows.  Our Dining Room turned Office makeover set off what my husband calls a “wild vortex of sequences” ~  which interpreted means, we have a ton of little un-finished things around here!

I did, however, manage to finish up one little space today ~ decorating the entryway table.  It’s one place I like to change up with the seasons.  The dresser that was once in there is now in the new office, so it was replaced with a thrift store makeover that’s been in many different rooms over the years!  The entryway is quite small, but thankfully big enough to swing open the door and have room to put a table to throw our keys on.

Rather than do a whole “Fall” theme this time, I decided to go with something that would work with any season.

Our recent little trip away led us to good ol’ Ikea, so this table is accessorized with things mostly from there.

The art print was in the 25 cent bin, and that blue lantern was a last minute buy just cause I liked it!  The picture frame and lamp came from a garage sale.  But the garage sale lampshade had an unfortunate accident on the way home.  To replace it, I went to Target and paid much more for a new shade than the lamp was…  but isn’t it pretty??

Overnight our sunny, warm weather has turned into rainy Fall.  I guess the timing was just perfect, as our rain arrived on the first day of Fall!  I find myself enjoying lighting those vanilla-scented candles (also from Ikea)  and snuggling up with blankets by the fire in the evening.

Happy Fall to you!

  1. Rita, how satisfying to be greeted with a fresh scene in your hall, when you
open the door. I love that shot of turquoise in the lantern. When the fall rains
come we need something visual to lift our spirits. Thanks for the inspiration.
