The Christmas Entryway Dresser

I may, perhaps, be the only person in North America who still has their Christmas decor stashed in totes in their basement.

But, I’m happy to report, our house is starting to look a bit like Christmas.

As I was perusing another blogger’s beautiful house tour, I was struck with~ what I believe ~ is a stroke of genius on her part.

She used her presents as her Christmas decor.

How clever is that?

So, I took that idea and ran with it today.

gifts as decor

I chose wrapping paper that I already had in my stash, printed off some fun free Christmas tags, and decided to decorate the entryway dresser with the gifts.  It was some of the quickest, easiest decorating I’ve ever done!

The other day I picked up some big ol’ felt snowflake placemats at our local grocery store for $1.49.  I thought they’d look pretty fun with the aqua and red paper.

We’ve also added in a happy orange lamp to the mix since I’ve last shown you the entryway. I’ve been searching high and low (for years!) for something fun to light up the dark entryway.  That lamp reached out and grabbed me when I was at Target one day…and the price tag of $14.99 was a special little thrifty gift!:)

I had originally planned to have another My Favorite Things party again this year, but due to a strange twist in the crazy December schedule, I had to cancel it.  (Boo Hoo…)  BUT, I had already bought my little gifts to give away ~ all those fun aqua ornaments and birds.

I guess I gifted them to me!;)  Blue is, after all, one of my favorite things!:)

So, there it is ~ the start of a little Christmas here at our house.  I guess you could say it’s a bit bright and funky around here this year…
