Maui on my Mind
Today’s THE DAY!!
As you read this, I’ll be sittin’ on a jet-plane, headed to Hawaii!
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve loved the research part of this abundantly above holiday. It’s been so fun to read and hear first hand the experiences and recommendations of others who’ve been there, done that!
Perhaps you, too, are planning a special trip to the magical island of Maui. (That’s how I’ve heard it described many times!) I thought you might enjoy these articles that I found extremely helpful and informational.
When I was sitting in the car on my way to shop for the infamous swimsuit, I googled into my husband’s phone:
“What do I pack for Maui?”
Up popped the most helpful blog written by a woman who travels to Hawaii frequently. There was a picture of her holding in her arms the entire pile of clothes she packed in her carry-on bag. It was, in fact, a very small pile.
I have now searched and searched for her and her helpful information, but can’t seem to find it anywhere! (Please let me know if you know what I’m talking about!) But, instead, I found this list that seems to be about the same information…sans the cute picture and fun dialogue writing…
Then, last week, I stumbled on these two articles that made me giddy with excitement.
Kate, from Centsational Girl, has been to Maui multiple times. She wrote a post highlighting some of her favorite activities, shops, and restaurants ~ complete with gorgeous pictures!
I’m bookmarking her post so I can refer back to it later.
I’ve also shared with you my challenges of shopping for clothes in general, and specifically for this Hawaiian holiday. I was thrilled to discover that Sarah from a Beach Cottage also struggles with being forty…and clothes shopping isn’t her forte! However, her pictures of outfit choices just blew me away!!
I loved them! Simple, classy, beachy… She encourages us to wear what we feel comfortable in ~ not necessarily trendy. Amen, sister. Amen.
I was also encouraged to see that many of her pieces are navy blue and tan. Hallelujah. I think I’m on the right track…
She lives her life year round on the beaches of Australia, so I think she has the beach wardrobe down to a tee.
Thank you to all of you who responded with items I might want to pack along. I’m taking your advice!
I hope you are having a WONDERFUL time in Maui!! We sure did when we went in January. I can’t wait to see more posts and pictures about your trip 🙂 Relax and enjoy!
I hope you are having a lovely time in Maui! (I’ve never been, but my mother has.) I too, love Sarah’s style. She’s definitely the go-to beach girl! xo Jami
